Matt was raised in Perry, Utah and attended Box Elder High School. He received his BFA in ceramics and secondary art education in 2012 from Utah State University, and his Associates from Dixie State College in 2008. Matt began teaching ceramics at Davinci Academy of Science and Art in 2012.
Matt has been working with clay for sixteen years. He currently lives in Ogden, Utah. Summers are spent in large part selling work at art festivals throughout the country. His artwork has been featured in publications such as 500 Prints on Clay and 500 teapots vol. 2. His work won 5th place in the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) K-12 ceramic exhibition in 2004 and 3rd place in the NCECA undergraduate show in 2012. He currently shows his work in five to ten juried shows per year.
